- Prepare Garment For Press: Lay the garment onto an ironing board. Make sure the area you'd like to press your patch is wrinkle free before placing the patch down. We recommend ironing the application area to ensure the surface of the garment is completely wrinkle free.
- Position The Patch: Now that the application area is wrinkle free, place the patch down onto the garment in its desired location. Being that the patch will be pressed facing down, we recommend securing the patch onto the garment by taping it down with Thermal Tape (heat resistant tape).
- Flip Garment, Press For 20-25 Seconds: Once the patch has been secured to the garment with Thermal Tape, flip the garment over so that the patch is face down and touching the ironing board. Now that the garment and patch are facing down, grab your iron and press the back of the garment, over the area where your patch is taped on the front. Press for 20-25 seconds at MAX temperature with firm pressure.
- Cool For 30 Seconds: After ironing the back of your garment over the are where your patch is located, flip the garment to its frontside and allow it to cool for at least 30 seconds. Giving the patch and garment time to cool allows the low-melt glue found on the back of the patch to solidify, thereby binding it to the garment. Once the patch and garment are cool to the touch, remove the Thermal Tape (if using).
For Thicker Fabrics (Hoodies, Jackets, etc.)
If after following these instructions the patch isn’t adhering to your garment, it could be because the garment you’re using is made of thick material, such as a hoodie, jacket, etc. If this is the case, tape your patch to the garment and flip the garment inside out. Then, lay the garment onto the ironing board so that the back of the patch is facing up. Lay a protective guard sheet over the garment and press for 40 seconds at MAX temp with hard pressure.
Use cold water when machine washing.
From Blackbear to Skincare
Marin was founded by two University of Maine Bioengineering grad students. Co-founder Amber Boutiette dealt with severe eczema throughout college, and after years of trying everything, worked with lobster scientist Dr. Bob Bayer to stumble upon an unexpected solution.
In the same way Marine Glycoproteins allowed lobsters to regenerate limbs, they could actually help repair the skin barrier. Trying a DIY, Glycoprotein-rich cream made in Bobs' kitchen, her eczema was cleared - and they knew they needed to launch Marin to bring Glycoproteins to others.
The Marin Innovation Scholarship
Now, it’s time to honor our roots and give back!
We're SO grateful to announce our Blueberry French Toast Lip Treatment is becoming the Official Lip Treatment of UMaine, we’re launching a limited-edition collegiate crewneck to celebrate the collab, and a portion of all sales (minimum $25k donation) will fund the Marin Innovation Scholarship - available soon for all students to apply through the ScholarshipUniverse platform to fund taking their first Innovation Engineering course - where we got our start!
We couldn’t be more grateful to help inspire and enable the next generation of dreamers, innovators and do-ers - one small step at a time.

Safety and non-irritation is really important to us!
We had Dermatologists clinically test this to make sure it's a non-irritating
formula. They performed what's called a repeat insult patch test study (RIPT study), where 50 participants apply the product for a period of 6 weeks, tested
each week for signs irritation. Our participants experienced no irritation throughout the entire study! Moreover, we formulated this product to be irritant-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free, and comply with the National
Eczema Association's list of unapproved ingredients! -
We discovered a new ingredient: Marine Glycoproteins!
As Bioengineers, we worked with lobster scientists to discover a glycoprotein that allows lobsters to regenerate limbs - in the same way they do this, they help repair the skin barrier!
A natural, upcycled byproduct of lobster processing, this superpowered regenerative protein helps:
• Hydrate dry skin
• Soothe upset skin
• Repair, soften and renew damaged, weathered and aged skin.

Use in the morning, evening, and as-needed throughout the day.
Suitable for use on your face, hands, and body.
To apply, rub a dime-sized amount into your skin in the morning, throughout the day as-needed to spot-treat, and at night after exfoliating or simply before bed. For extra-irritated skin patches, use the Soothing Hydration Cream to keep it moist as possible throughout the day.
When applying to areas of your face, as a relatively thick, rich cream, we recommend starting with a pea-sized drop and increasing the amount applied if necessary.

We actually have a BUNCH of people using the cream to help soothe skin prone to
eczema or psoriasis! This is actually why we founded Marin and created the
product - after the glycoproteins helped *finally* soothe our own eczema, we
felt compelled to bring this new, natural solution to others like us!Overall, glycoproteins do a great job hydrating and repairing dry, damaged skin, while also smoothing and softening rough skin out - a combination of concerns that is
common among many people with psoriasis, dermatitis and eczema. We think reviews for concerns like psoriasis speak for themselves - you can actually search reviews at the bottom of our Soothing Hydration Cream page, here!
-
We actually have a lot of parents and grandparents using the cream for their little ones!
We've noticed that a lot of people prefer a more natural alternative to steroid creams, which can sometimes cause more damage than good. To be extra sure that Marin is gentle
enough for their skin, we recommend applying a little dime-sized amount of
product on before use, observing for any irritation, and continuing use once
you've made sure their skin likes Marin!
