From Black Bear to Skincare
Marin was founded by two University of Maine Bioengineering grad students. Co-founder Amber Boutiette dealt with severe eczema throughout college, and after years of trying everything, worked with lobster scientist Dr. Bob Bayer to stumble upon an unexpected solution.
In the same way Marine Glycoproteins allowed lobsters to regenerate limbs, they could actually help repair the skin barrier.
Trying a DIY, Glycoprotein-rich cream made in Bobs' kitchen, her eczema was cleared - and they knew they needed to launch Marin to bring Glycoproteins to others.
