Glycoproteins vs. Peptides!

Peptides are a buzzy ingredient in sensitive skincare products, and for good reason! So how does Marin’s active ingredient: Marine Glycoproteins stack up?

Let’s breakdown their *Maine* differences below!

Peptides vs. Marine Glycoproteins

Structure

Glycoproteins are molecules that consist of a protein and a carbohydrate (sugar) component. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins.
Peptides vs. Marine Glycoproteins

Origin

Peptides are most commonly developed synthetically in a lab, but can also derive from animal sources like collagen, or plants such as yeast or oats. The Marine Glycoproteins in Marin products are specifically derived from an upcycled byproduct of lobster processing!
Peptides vs. Marine Glycoproteins

Primary Function

Peptides are mainly focused on stimulating collagen production, whereas Marine Glycoproteins excel at moisture retention, stimulating collagen synthesis (the process of making collagen, which begins inside the cell and continues outside), soothing inflammation and increasing natural Hyaluronic Acid Production.
Peptides vs. Marine Glycoproteins

Suitability for Sensitive Skin

Both ingredients are beneficial, but Marine Glycoproteins are especially advantageous for those with dry, highly sensitive or reactive skin due to their calming effects.

More about Glycoproteins!

Marine Glycoproteins are a natural by product of lobster processing – a naturally abundant, regenerative protein that allows lobster to regenerate limbs, and in the same way, help repair our skin barrier. They function as an all-in-one ingredient for deeply hydrating, quickly soothing and visibly repairing the barrier, by stimulating broblast proliferation and hyaluronic acid production, helping maintain broblast (dermal skin cell) viability, and upregulating collagen synthesis.

In a 4-week 33-participant clinical study investigating of the ecacy of their glycoprotein-based Soothing Hydration Cream in mitigating signs of a topic dermatitis, 78.8% of participants reported experiencing instant relief from symptoms of eczema, 90.9% of participants reported their skin was less itchy, aky, red and dry by week 4, and 97% of participants reported their skin looked and felt signicantly healthier with 4 weeks of daily use.

The cream is amazing. I wish I have bought a few more. It got rid of a few small dry patches on my face. I use it on top of my mature skinned hands and it lasts a long time. I recommend!

I like the thickness of the cream as it stays put where you apply it and soaks in slowly. I'm seeing improvements in my raw, flaking skin after a dishydrosis flair and it's a huge relief.

So far it's the best eczema relief product I've tried. It also seems to be reducing inflammation and redness in my face and hands after several days. Hopeful.
